Case - Good

Mobo/CPU - If you want AMD, this is fine, however that processor may slow you down in the future. However, for $200, I think it's the best you will do.

Vid Card - Great choice

Power supply - ew power more likely Lookhere for a good psu

Ram - Fine, however 4gb will get you nowhere with a 32 bit operating system. You will need a 64bit os to use all the ram. You will be fine with 2gb here unless you go 64bit

Hard drive - good choice

You are missing a dvd drive.

A 500W Coolermaster PSU will work fine for your build and costs less while it is of good quality: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817171018

Would that power supply still be good enough if I decided to use this vid card instead

I would use this power supply for your build with the 9800 GTX video card. One of the best power supplies on the market.

Build looks good and I agree with others the only thing I would really want you to upgrade would be the PSU. The unit Cricket posted is very good and for a few dollars more you can move up to the 620 or 650 if you want more headroom for futre upgrades.

One other thing. I have a version of xp professional already. Would it be ok to use this or would I be better off buying Vista?

If your worried about gaming in dx10 then get vista; if not i would stick with xp; and remember unless your OS is a 64 bit one, you will not be able to actually use all 4Gigs of ram (not that this really is gonna kill your performance, but just fyi)

A little off topic from the original topic but, what is the highest RAM 32-bit will detect?

Windows will only report something in the range of 2.75 to 3.2GB, but the system is still making use of all 4GB if you install that much. And with RAM prices where they are now, I'd get 4GB anyway.

I have spent a lot time the last week or so revamping my build. I have changed a few things so before I pull the trigger on the purchase I was hoping to get a few opionions on my new build. I realize there is a lot of better parts but i am trying to stay as cheap as possible. If you guys see any way I can cut corners please feel free to let me know

Build looks good. I know nothing about the EPU version of the P5K so best I can recommend for that is read reviews. I would have recommended a bit faster CPU but have a freind gaming with a E4500 and the performance difference in games between that and my E6750 are not noticable. We both use the same video card, so think you will be good with the 8800 GT driving the performance.

For only a few dollars more you could get an E7200, its a newer processor from Intel and uses 45nm technology so it's smaller and more efficient, also a higher clock speed. You could keep your budget the same if you knock down the motherboard to something like a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L. That board has high quality capacitors and good overclocking options. It has all the features you need, unless you want to use RAID or crossfire. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Yea i would definatly step up to the E7200, its at a really good price. Also the GA-P35-DS3L is great if you dont need Raid or SLI.

I would recommend maybe this hard drive? - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148262

I know it's less memory, and the same brand, but the one you posted has a lot of recent bad ratings...
