My first gaming build

I dont have much money, know very little about the inner workings of a PC but I wanted to build a decent gaming pc on a limited budget, heres links to what I bought and at the bottom are the components im going to use off of my current pc...

Motherboard and CPU combo:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...MBM-C55-Q66000

Case:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&sku=C283-1002

Hard Drive:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...sku=TSD-250AS7

Ram:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227269

I found vista 64 home on ebay for 80 bucks so I grabbed it, want to try out DX10
I have a 650w sli ready power supply and a creative audio 4 sound card.
Also have 1 xfx 8800gt

I always used storebought PC's like dell and gateway this is my first attempt at making a gaming PC, did I do ok? I was trying to keep it under 700$

I dont have enough for a second video card but do you think I can run a game like crysis on full with this setup?

What brand is the power supply?

And make sure you get a heatsink for the processor. It looks like that one is oem, so it doesn't include one.

Hopefully that copy of windows is legit.

What about a dvd drive?

Rest looks ok.

You won't be able to max Crysis in DX10 mode at a decent resolution with an 8800GT and still get >30FPS. In DX9 mode easily (my 9600GT (just a tad down from an 8800GT) can run Crysis DX9 high 1280x1024 @ 36FPS avg)

I got an OEM copy of Vista 64 at Fry's for 80 something bucks. So the price you paid is not suspiciously low.

Don't get a crap power supply...that is the heart of your system really.

BTW, the newer games are working just fine for me in Vista 64. ...and contrary to many peoples opinions?...Vista 64 is faster for the newer games than XP...in my experience. Which makes sense since the CPU is being used as a 64 bit processor and Vista recognizes all 4 Gigs of RAM. Crysis rocks in this configuration!

Power supply is an ultra xfinity, had it for about a year now runs great was going to use it on my new rig,

As far as a heat sink, like I said I dont know much about the inner workings of a PC but I did order this http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...?EdpNo=3302824 is that a heatsink? or just a fan?

The dvd drive I have is an old TDK one I had for years, it is going to be the first thing I upgrade after I put this together.

I just wanted to throw something together quick than save for parts, eventually I plan on getting another hard drive, gettimg another video card, than getting a motherboard with PCI express 2.0 unless it wont make much of a diference.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Ultra power supplies are known to be bad. I would consider getting a new one.

That heatsink is for the P4, you would need something better than that since that processor can get hot.

-- It's not easy to make a true gaming computer for under $700. If you want to play something like Crysis, Call of Duty 4 or Rainbow Six Vegas 2 on the maximum DX10 settings... you often need to get the best video card you can and would want to be running a processor above 2.4GHz. That being said, you don't NEED to be on max settings to enjoy these games. I run Crysis on high (not highest) and think it rocks. With the setup you're using on your budget... I think you'll be having fun.

-- I have a second EVGA 9600GT in my rig and have not been too impressed with what SLI gave me. If you want to get the best performance for the price... take the money you would spend on a second card and put it into getting the best possible single card. Go SLI only if you're looking to use a 26" or bigger monitor.

Just throw in here that I have that RAM, only 2GB of it, it's solid stuff and would recommend it. Not that I would notice much difference between ram.

I would suggest ordering all parts from newegg.com instead.. Tigerdirect has poor customer service, and are know to ship DOA parts as well..

I used tiger for most of the parts and newegg for the ram. I have bought things from both sites in the past with no problems so I usually go with whoever is selling the cheaper parts.

As for the heatsink can I just buy a stock heatsink that comes with the 6600? I found a few on ebay new and sealed.
