I have a pc with a WinFast K7NCR18D Pro motherboard. It has been running fine until a few days ago. It will start, but not go into the POST. All of the fans work fine, the led's light up, but the pc will not continue to boot from there. I have put a boot cd into the cd-rom drive, but the pc will not get to the point of trying to boot from it. I have not added any new hardware at this point. Also, I have already replaced the CMOS battery.
Any help, or suggestions, would be greatly appreciated. |

Welcome to PCMech. What are the full specs of your comp? How old? Is there anything that occurred at the time this problem began, or was this out of the blue?

Try this troubleshooter and let us know if the problem is still there or not. You must remove the motherboard from the case when doing this.

The computer is about 4 years old. The specs are:
-motherboard is a WinFast K7NCR18D Pro -CPU is AMD XP-2500 -Hitachi 80 GB HDD -Artec CD-RW and DVD-rom EIDE -ATI Radeon 9600 Pro video card -350 Watt Power Supply I have not added any devices to the computer prior to it having issues. Nothing unusual appeared to occur prior to this problem. Also, I have tried reseting the CMOS using the CMOS reset jumpers on the motherboard. Still will not go into the POST (fans go on and led's still light). I will try the troubleshooting steps listed above. I will post again with the result of the troubleshooting procedure. Thank you for your help. |

PC Still does not work after trying practically everything
I needed to build a visual synthesizer and yesterday I put the computer processor together and I turned on the power and all the fans and lights came on, but the BIOS did not come up. My monitor reported that there was power going to the monitor and there was no signal coming from the computer. Also there was no power going to the keyboard. I switched the monitor out with a monitor and keyboard that I know works and ended up with the same problem. After that, I took all the RAM out and the second video card out, and ended up with the same problem. I checked to make sure all the wire connections were in correctly and made sure the video card was seated all the way. I fired the computer up again and still the same result. I then took everything out of the case and checked that CPU was seated correctly and it was. I put everything back into the case and turned on the computer and the result was the same.
I am currently under a deadline to get this computer working for a live performance. I know it is something simple that is holding everything up, but can someone please help? Video Cards (I have two installed) Geforce 8800 GTS 320MB PCIe Motherboard MSI K9N SLI-F nForce 570LT Socket AM2 CPU AMD Ahtlon 64 x2 6000+ Socket AM2 RAM 8GBs Harddrives (I have two) 750GBs Power Supply 650 Watts |

Cricket,
I am in the process of going through the troubleshooting steps above. Step #7 says to: 7) Connect the power supply to the motherboard with both the 24pin main ATX Power connection and the separate 4 or 8 pin power connection. I do not see a 4 pin power connection on the motherboard. Is this normal? |

on some motherboards, you may have different plug configurations. The thing to worry about is just make sure that every place where you can plug something in from the PSU, you plug something in; since you are using the same PSU as before, PSU connections should not be a problem, just plug them in as they were before. Where you can incur issues is when for instance you have an AMD motherboard and a 4 pin connector designed for a Pentium motheboard(or vice versa), or you have an 8pin server connection on your motherboard even though its not a server (asus crosshair for instance)
