PSU question

Hi there, well I'm full swing into upgrading my PC at the moment. I just purchased a new graphics card (Radeon X1650PRO, AGP) but I only have a 300W PSU. Obviously I'll need to upgrade, but what should I put in there? And how do I get a PSU with all the right plugs to fit my system. Thanks

Post your computer specifications, although PSU size is very dependent on video, it is hard to recommend just based on video card alone. Right of the bat I would guess 450 w + would be safe for an older AGP board. If you plan on more upgrades (ie: MB and CPU) in the futrue you might want to plan for that now and buy a larger unit.

You can use this to get an estimate:

but I would personally add 150+ Watts to whatever it recommends. It won't hurt in the long run...only help.

Do you also need helping picking a manufature? There is a thread on the site with a good list, but I haven't been around for a few months so I'm having trouble finding it...but its here...somewhere.

I don't think types or numbers of plugins will be a concern. All good PSU's should have more than enough plugins to fill your needs.

Well I ended up getting a 420W Thermaltake from a local computer shop. It should be fine; all I'm running is the mobo, one optical, one hdd, and a gpu.
