How much RAM do you have?

What video card do you have?

What do you use the system for?

What is your budget for upgrades?

Are you judging improvement by gaming frames per second or benchmarks? What exactly are you going for.

With $400, you could sell your 8800gt, pick up an 8800gts and e8400. That is if your mobo supports the e8400. I think it does with a bios update.

You could do a CPU upgrade to an 8400 or a Q6600, or pick up a 9800 video card or another 2GB of RAM, but but you really won't see much difference. Your system is still current. Is there any specific task that you do that isn't performing as you'd like it to?

If you really have cash to burn, how about something outside the box like a larger monitor or killer sound system?

For gaming I would say upgrade the video card, although to be honest you have a very nice video card so the improment will be small but probably noticable in the newest games.

For benchmarks I would upgrade your processor. Quad if you are looking for multi-tasking. Fast C2D if you are benching off of games. Doubt you will see much framrate improment but overall the system would run a bit faster.

I would generally agree with Alaron though, your system is current enough that I would hold off on upgrades until it actually is struggling a bit. If you are having a specific problem please post it and we can fine tune recommendations.

Yah i think i have the money and its burning a hole in my pocket and thats not the way to go if i dont really need to do an upgrade.....i would upgrade the video card but i just bought it about 2 months ago.if i knew then i prob would have gotten the 9800 instead of the 880gt..but its ok, i built the machine about a year and a half ago so i guess ill just hold off, until the summer when the new stuff hits the shelves. Thanks alot guys for the help
