Power?

I just finished this build and several times I have noticed when I go to power it on - it starts and then immediately shuts off... no alarms... just shuts off after about 1-2 seconds. Try it again, and it starts with no problem.

I feel like the 850 Power Supply is sufficient but I am not sure.

Do I need a larger Power Supply or should I be looking at the power switch/power cord for a bad connection?

Doesn't do it all the time... just maybe twice. This case does have (3) fans going: (1) at the back, (1) on top and (1) in the front. I have all of them set to medium or low. I could probably do without the one in front. But, it works with all three fans running. Just those 2-3 times when I hit the start button and it started and then stopped... I have had it run non-stop for over a week with no problems... it was just when I was initially powering on those few times.

Also, I had unplugged the computer from the wall immediately before these occurrences - if that makes a difference. I had to move the computer and it was necessary to unplug it from the wall.

Curious...

I dont think size is the problem if I am reading right and you are only running one GTX at this time. Running two in SLI might push it a little, think 850 would be enough, but with 4 HD, etc. you might need a little bit more head room than just what is recommended for the cards in SLI, your case is pretty full. But again, with a single card you should be fine with 850 watts.

That being said I really dont know what to suggest. It could be something software not hardware the way you decribe it. What OS are you running? Vista still has some bugs that are slowing getting patched, are you keeping current with patches?

Did the problem only occur after you disconnected the power from the wall outlet?

Are you plugging the comuter directly into the wall outlet or into a surge suppressor or UPS?

I believe that it has only happened after unplugging the computer at the wall outlet. We had a series of bad thunder storms and I was shutting down and unplugging at the wall to prevent lighting from getting my computer. I had that happen once and have been fearful ever since.

I have it plugged into a surge suppressor.
