Trouble Shooting at Start Up

Alright...i'm back again, this time with a video problem that I hear is fairly common. I've listed all the parts to my first homebuilt PC at the bottom.

I'm getting no output to my monitor, and recieving no beeps at start-up. Yes, I do have the internal speaker connected.

So far, I've tried three variations at start-up. 1.) The monitor connected to the video card at start-up. 2.) The monitor connected to the mobo at start-up, with the video card still connected in the case. 3.) The monitor connected to the mobo at start-up, with the video card removed completely. The motherboard has on-board video.

After working out a couple stupid errors, all fans (CPU, 2 case fans, and GPU fan) fire up immediately upon power up, but I'm still getting nothing on my screen.

Any procedures I can walkthrough to locate what's going on???

Also, one last thing. I have the 24 pin connector from the PSU onto the mobo. There still is a 4 pin (square...not **** like the rest) male adapter on the motherboard. As no cables in that shape came with anything, there is nothing connected to it. From the manuals for various hardware I bought, it says this is the ATX_12V power connector. Is this something I need to run to radio shack to buy and connect to the PSU? If someone could clear that up for me too, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for your help guys. All my hardware is listed below.

Do an out of case build first just in case something is shorting out, instructions here:

Besides the twenty four pin connector on your motherboard there is also a square four pin connector near your CPU, this is what powers your cpu.
Some new power supplies come with an extra four pin connector to powers the latest generation of video cards.
You haven't listed your PSU, what make and model is it?

I don't know the manufacturer, but it's a 600W that came with the case.

If you're right about the 4 pin connector powering the CPU, then I don't have it connected. And therefore, my computer can't think. Am I right?

I'll be stopping by radio shack or circuit city to buy the extra cable at lunch.

Hopefully that will solve the problem.

You don't need an extra cable.
Have a look through the cables coming out of your PSU and see how many square four pin connectors you have, besides the one that makes up the 24 pins (some twenty four pin connectors are twenty pin and an extra four pin tight alongside them).

Give me a few minutes to research your mobo and graphics card, I doubt very much if a PSU that came with a case (generally not very good quality) would have the extra four pin connector a video card would require.

edit..
The four pin connector for the CPU is just inboard of the two upper most USB ports on the rear of the motherboard. Your video card should have come with an adapter cable to connect it to the PSU via a spare molex connector if your PSU doesn't have a dedicated connector for it.
