first build

I have a few questions on my first pc build its going to be mostly for gaming but i dont have a million dollars to spend. I need to know what processor i should go with. My motherboard is a asus p5n-e sli 650i. My case is an atx with a 550 watt power supply. im thinking of going with a 8800gt or gts for the graphics card. 2 gigs of ddr2 ram pc-2 6400 at 800mhz. The first processor i was going to go with was the core 2 duo 6400 but might go with the e6750 which one is a better for oc or just overal performance. would this build be able to play crysis on high settings.

thanks

For CPUs I would either go with the E8400 (Dual Core) or Q6600 (Quad Core). E8400 will be better for gaming but if you do some amount of multitasking I would recommend the Q6600.

The best GPU that you can get for a reasonable price today is the Radeon 4850: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121253

Is the 550W PSU a good one or a cheapy that came with a case? If the latter applies, I would suggest purchasing a better PSU.

I agree, the E8400 is a great processor. It's a great and easy overclocker. Runs at good temps too, I don't pass 48C at full load and 3.6ghz on an Artic Cooler 7.

Playing Crysis on high settings partially depends on what resolution you plan on playing. But keep in mind even the fastest PC's today including mine still struggle with Crysis at higher resolutions.
