First build almost done, few questions
Well, I got all the parts I ordered this afternoon, and pent all day building the thing. Finally got all my parts in, turned the PSU on, and the thing actually turned on and didn't make any weird noises! I'm still in shock that I didn't screw something up, especially being my first time and the fact that I was able to do it all in one sitting.
Got some questions though. There were a few chords that my case had that I couldn't find a plugin on the mobo for. One was labeled AC'97, the other was 1328, or something like that. The AC'97 was attached to HDDAud (once again, something like that, I'd have to double check the label), and I hooked the HDDAud into the Front Audio plugin. So now the AC'97 and 1328 cables are just kinda hanging around, and I'm not sure what to do with them. I also had a cable that was split into two seperate cables, just labeled + and -. Wasn't sure what to do with those either. Another thing that I noticed is that my power LED lights up when the PC is booting up, but turns off when everything starts running. Is that normal, or did I mess up the polarity on the PwrLED cable? Here's the parts I have in this thing: DFI BloodIron Motherboard Core 2 Duo E8400 VisionTek Radeon HD4850 Zalman CPU Cooling Fan Samsung 500GB 7200RPM SATA HDD Samsung SATA DVD/CD Burner OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800 RAM Antec Earthwatts 500w PSU COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 Mid Tower ATX Case |

I assume you mean 1394 - that's a firewire port. You probably have a firewire port on the front of your case? Should be a matching spot on the mobo for that (near the +/-, front USB, audio spot etc.).
As for the AC'97, I beileve that's an audio out (for the audio out jack on the front of your case). Check your mobo manual to find out where exactly it goes (near the +/-, front USB, firewire etc.). As for the activity light, it should be blinking while working once it's booted up. It doesn't blink at all once it's up? Probably messed something up. Check the mobo manual again to make sure you got the right polarity. |
