I built the computer, and it was working fine for months now. Suddenly, I get an error message saying that the checksum doesn't match. I looked it up, and was told to take out the motherboard battery and unplug the computer for awhile. I did all that, and put everything back. When I switched on the power supply though, all the lights and fans turned out WITHOUT me pushing the power button. And, I don't get any visual. I used a different screen, and still no visual. No bios beep sound too. I turn off the computer, and turn on with the power button, just blank screen still. And the computer still turns on when you switch on the power supply, without the power button being pressed. What's going on?

It sounds like you're now in the market for a new bios chip if not a new motherboard.
Head over to http://www.badflash.com/ to get a replacement bios chip. What you were told to do should have re-set the chip to factory specs which would work for some usual problems, like the overclock won't hold any longer, but not all. What was going on at your place right before the trouble started ?

Uh Oh. How up to date do you keep your anti-virus? You know that false Java updates have been used to load malware, right ? And that your firewall has to be kept updated as well? I admit it could just be really unfortunate timing (and that happens far more frequently then is generally credited) so it the above is in order then get the bios chip. |

New motherboard in your future and, maybe, new graphics card as well.

Alright, I swapped out the motherboard. It starts up, there's visuals. BUT, the problem now is that I can't get into windows. I go the screen that says "starup windows normall" and "start in safe mode." anything I choose, the computer restarts, and goes back through bios. I put in the vista dvd to repair stuff, and the repair thing says "trying to repair computer" because "windows failed to start." After awhile I get a message that it couldn't repair the problems automatically. I can't restore from restore point, because it says there aren't any. What can I do from here?

Oh, and here's the report analysis: A recent driver installation or upgrade may be preventing the system from starting.

You have a RAID 1+0 array, where's the OS ?
Depending on what you've done you may be able to keep the data but you may have to re-install, not repair, Vista. |
