Gaming PC Upgrade
Hello everyone,
I currently have a gaming pc that I use alot and its days are numbered. I just want to upgrade the core components, meaning: Motherboard CPU Memory Video Card Right now I have: AMD 64 3200+ Asus A8N -VM-CSM (microatx) 1 GB Kingston Geforce 7600 GS 128MB I have everything else (monitor, PSU, case, etc.) I will be only using the system for playing games like The Witcher, WoW, Half Life 2, and maybe a few other graphic intensive games, but nothing like Crysis. I would like all my games running smooth and I would like to spend no more than $600. So far I thought of: CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115037 Mobo: Asus P5Q Pro LGA 775 Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131299 RAM: G.skill 2 X 1GB DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231098 Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 512MB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102747 ANy problems with this build? Is it okay to use lower speed RAM than what is recommended by that motherboard? Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

So. Yeah. Good list.

good part selection.
Only question is, what power supply do you currently have? It might not be enough.

You will most likely need to upgrade the power supply.

Is a 550w Antec not enough? I'v been out of the loop since my last system as far as power requirements and new technology.

Antec 550 should be good.
Does it have a 24 pin, or a 20+4 pin power connector? |
