Don't bother till you can buy the case, power supply, video card, motherboard, processor, and ram. DDR400 is obsolete and there aren't any current Core 2 Duo motherboards that support it.

Who is spamming where? I don't see anything.

Core 2 Duo motherboards require DDR2 ram. They also require 24 pin ATX 2.0 power supplies and PCI-Express video cards.

1. Please read the forum rules. Do not post large inline images.

2. NONE of that you have is compatible with a Core 2 Duo motherboard. DDR ram will NOT FIT in a DDR2 slot. You have an AGP video card, not a PCI-Express. Core 2 Duo boards do NOT have AGP slots. Your power supply is a 20 pin ATX 1.0 unit, not a 24 pin ATX 2.0 unit. Sorry!

Most Core 2 Duo boards only have one IDE connector, so you will be limited to 2 IDE devices. There will be 4 or more SATA connectors.

That case looks like it would take any atx motherboard.

There are plenty of motherboards that will handle a core 2 duo, and there a few core 2 duos to choose from.

The processor and motherboard will come seperately, though some places might have a deal when you buy two specific items together.

Any how many volts does it have to be?

That PSU may power your up-grade depending on the wattage of the unit and more specific, the amp rating of the +12volt rail. If the rating sticker on the PSU says that the 12volt is rated 24 amps or less, time to get a newer PSU.

That seasonic you linked to earlier looks good. Thats a quality power supply.

I've never heard of x-power, and will assume it's not good quality.

I don't see anywhere on that site where it says if it's a standard atx case. If it is, then an atx power supply and motherboard will fit. If not, and that case is outside of standards, then it will be limited into what it can fit with out making any modifications.

I'm assuming it's standard atx though.

It might be easier if you tell me what your budget is, and what the main purpose of the computer is.

So of the UK member should be able to help you pick out parts from a good dealer there, and that will help give you an idea of what to look at.

Im going for as cheap as possible for a core 2 duo machine with a 512mb video card and 2gb of ram, with that case, the machine is for playing "the sims 1 + 2 + 3 games & spore but will be used for multiple other things like word processing etc, i don't think the internet is important for it.

On such a low end card, the extra memory is not going to help performance.

The card in your set actually only has 128MB of ram and is slower than the 256MB one I recommended.
