Hows this look?
Im trying to build a decent gaming PC. I do mostly MMOs and things so don't need extremely high FPS or anything just looking for something new that can play the games for the next couple years lol. Here is what Im thinking so far...all suggestions are great =)
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E8200 2.66GHz 6MB Cache 1333MHz FSB 750 Watt Multi-GPU Approved Power Supply 1x512MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 9800 GT 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz NVIDIA® nForce 680i SLI Motherboard 250GB SATA 3Gb/s 7,200RPM 16MB Cache This rig will be about $1000-1200. If there are any suggestions, ive only built my current computer and it took me a while to get it working perfectly, Im hoping this second round will go a little smoother since I will be buying better parts lol. If you think I can switch things for other things let me know, also suggestions on the best ram and harddrive companys to get them from. I went AMD last time and liked it but thinking Intel might do okay. Thanks in Advance, Travis |

- Step up to E8400
- I suggest looking at a more reliable power supply. Look at a corsair 520W modular power supply. - I don't believe there is a 9800gt. You must be referring to a 9800gtx. It's a good card, but if you're on a budget, you should step down to a 8800gt if you aren't doing any intense gaming. - Get a corsair xms2 ddr2-800 2x2gb or 2x1gb ram. - Scratch the 680i, get a asus p5q board. - Get the seagate 7200.11 500gb hdd. edit: If you get vista, make sure if you use any older hardware or software supports vista. If you get vista, get 4gb of ram. There is nothing wrong with vista.

Or look into the HD 4850. It's 150 after rebates. Good card.

Agree with Dave. Go for one of the new P45 chipset boards. The Nividia chipsets big advantage is SLI and that is not really necessary for what you intend using it for. Intel processors historically perform better with intel chipsets. I would also second Cantputts suggestion on the 4850. The ATI cards offer a bit more bang for the buck right now and that card would run any current MMO at top settings without breaking a sweat.
