stress tests
When I build my new PC before I go about using it, I was wondering if there was some way to stress test it, maybe with some downloadable game or something, to see how it operates at extremes. Any ideas that don't cost very much?

prime95 for stress testing. 3dmark for gaming benchmarking.

To stress the memory, you can run: www.memtest.org
For the cpu, try prime95 or orthos For the video card, maybe 3dmark EDIT: Beat to the punch.

I would also suggest that you run memtest and Prime95 for a full 24hrs and 3dmark for at least 12hrs.
Good Luck |
