help with PWR_FAN

Hi I have an Asus P5k motherboard and a foxconn case and the power supply that came with it does not appear to have a cable to connect to pwr_fan. What do I do?

Also, my motherboard's guide recommends a minimum of 400W power supply and mine only does 350W. Will I need to replace it?

Sounds like the PSU that came with your case needs to be replaced. What brand is it?

Foxconn, it came with the case. Says "Channel Well Technology" on the side.

PWR FAN is an optional connection for PSUs that have an RPM sensing lead that would connect to the mobo. Since your PSU doesn't have one, don't worry about it. As for the size of the PSU, that would depend on the video card. A $30 desktop card, you probably would be fine, anything more powerfull, need a bigger PSU. Also, if the 12v amp rating on the PSU is less than 20 amps, then time for a bigger PSU.

Nothing. The PWR_FAN connection isn't necessary and you don't have to connect anything to it. That connection is only so you can monitor the power supply fan RPM...no big deal.

Depends on all the other parts you're using and on the quality of the power supply itself. Since it's out of a Foxconn case my guess is the power supply is a cheap low quality one.

Please list the complete system specs for this computer. After we know that we can recommend a good power supply that will meet your needs.

Running a p5k mobo with 4gb ram 800MB harddrive no video card(its a graphics integrated mobo) with intel core2 duo processor. Max power output is 350W, it says under 12V1, "11 A" and under 12V2, "14 A".

Channel Well power supplies are good quality. Foxconn has been including them in some cases lately. For your setup, I'd keep using it. If you ever add a video card, then I'd upgrade.
