Boom Random hang after installation of OS

for some odd reason after I installed my OS on my build, once i started to install the drivers for my motherboard, video card, etc. the system seems to hang every 10-15 minutes each time i log in
and i am always having to constantly hit the reset button

so i went back in did a fresh install of the OS and it is still having the same issues..

anyone know what the problem could be? do you think i would need a BIOS update?

Asus P5Q motherboard
Western Digital 640GB HDD
Corsair XMS2 2GB ram
Intel E7200
Silverstone Strider 600W PSU
Samsung DVD writer
Evga 8800 GT Superclocked
Vista Premium SP1

BIOS up-date is a possiblity.
So is the possiblity that the CPU heatsink isn't on tightly/correctly or too much or no thermal compound on the heatsink. Any of these could cause the CPU to overheat and cause freezes.
Also, on Newegg, someone mentioned that the P5Q needs to use the full 8 pins for the CPU power connections and not just a 4 pin CPU connector.

nope, i checked everything and everything was seated and plugged in securely. my power supply does have an 8pin for the motherboard instead of the usual 4 pin. i was using the stock intel heatsink.
but i got it running perfect now
i had to go into the BIOS up the ram voltage to 1.9 instead of the default 1.8 that the motherboard set's it to and changed the timings
disabled all the power saving stuff
disabled C1E, Max cpuid, intel speedstep, and intel c stat

no BIOS update needed

Well before you start thinking its your hardware , try installing your OS with that same CD on another system and see if it does the same thing. I have heard of defective CDs coming from Microsoft. O and if your dealing with a copy , It may have not been burned right.
