Would like some help

Hey just decided its time to get a new computer and I'd like some help from you guys to think what parts I should consider buying.

I have a budget of $2,000. I play lots and lots of video games so this will be a gaming computer and I'd like it to be pretty amazing. I want to use top of the line components and all that stuff. If you guys could please help me with picking out parts would be wonderful. Thanks guys in advance!

I havent really decided anything at all that I want right now, I'd just like to stick with nvidia for video cards and I'm still debating between AMD and Intel. So go ahead and shoot and say what you think would be most suitable for me.

I will need a new monitor but mouse and keyboard are fine.. Everything else is from scratch

SLI really isn't worth it, but if you insist: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131255

Then get two of those video cards, and get this power supply: corsair 1000

Everything else should still be good.

This SLI system should work fine for gaming, if you are interested in overclocking now or later on, note that it will void your warranty for the processor and also requires an aftermarket heatsink such as the Zalman 9700:

Be sure to get a power supply from Nvidia's certified list for SLI: www.slizone.com I don't see that OCZ in the list for dual 260s.

There shouldn't be any problems with using the OCZ power supply for the build. OCZ is on the good list for power supplies, has the requires 4x6pin cables for the video cards, has 80 amps on the 12 volt rail and a total power output of 900 watts.

Would you guys suggest buying a computer already built? Cause it may be cheaper and same specs less work? Any suggestions?

If I had the money to do it, I'd build every time.

While you may find a machine with comparable components, not every one of 'em are gonna be high quality. The next best reason would have to be less bloat. It takes forever to clean up all the adds and extra trial offers stuffed on a prebuilt. Of course you get extra software, which can be a good thing, but usuallly end up buying or downloading the stuff you want to use anyway.

Warranties on pre builds are usuuallly decent and can be a benefit of a prebuilt, but all new parts almost always have thier own also. Then if you have to use the warranty on a pre built you don't have controll over how long they may keep your machine - after you take it to them for repair.

Basicallly, I just prefer my own builds. I can only dream of building something with brand new parts. I'm forced by the wife to buy pre-built. So I've got both. Newer propietary pc's, and my older tinkering machines. While my old p3 can't burn a dvd as fast as the pre built AMD64 it's still more reliable against stupid problems, and it's faster accessing the net. Cause I got a high end card for it.

Sorry, I think I might have given you more than .02 worth.

no no.. Its all good man, I think im convinced to build one. I just dont know much about the parts and think I'm goin to end up spending all this money only to want to replace the parts cause they arent what I wanted a week or two after I got them. But heres what I got so far I think...

We can't see your wish lish, as it it's tied to your account.

What exactly are you going to be doing with this computer? What games are you going to be playing? People here can help you very much but some things (SLI 280s) just don't really make that much sense to do unless you REALLY need it.

I would also, of course, recommend building.
