Confusion
okay, I've got everything laid out for a computer except the most critical parts, even though i want to go amd cause i grew up with it and think the amd chips like ati better, Intel's Q6600 beats out the 9850. which way should i go? this effecting the mother board as well, the chip sets out go from 790FX to X48

If you like amd, then go amd. Right now though, intel has better performance.
Also look at what's in your price range. Personally, i would get the best performing cpu that I could afford and needed.

well the performance difference isn't THAT much so i thought id go with the 9850 but if i ever need to overclock im screwed if i do that and the q6600 can get up to 4.0 *watercooled but non-the-less*

I've got a Q6600 and very happy with it. Took it to 3.2GHz on air with hardly anymore voltage and no more heat - stable.
If you still prefer AMD then go with that, but I think Intel is great.
