The setup looks good to me, everything to my knowledge is compatible and should work fine.
However, I have some suggestions for items but it depends on preferance: case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811146047 (cools like a beast) mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136051 (runs like a beast) HS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835207004 (best heat sink to date off air) i would suggest checking those out, i'v done lots of looking up on all three and they are very good products. it all depends on what you want your computer to do but with a cpu like q6600 i would get a dfi lanparty due to the GENIE bios that let you OC very well. You also might want to look into a 4870, there is a fair difference between the 4870 and 4850 =] best of luck building your computer, i hope it all goes smoothly. you also MIGHT want to upgrade your power supply, its pretty low for a power eating GFX card. thanks for the feedback, i appreciate it, but most of those components are moving even more over budget, i only plan to over clock to 3ghz for now, and i aint paying 100-120 quid for a motherboard, id consider getting the fan but not sure how im going to get it from the usa, because it ain't at nova
and as far as i know newegg doesnt ship to uk, otherwise id go there because its 100 pounds cheaper |

Like i said, the mobo fits a persons wants =p it has dual pci X16 (x16,x16 electrical)
Ill look for a site with the heatsink in the uk, it cools a seriously over clocked q6600 to about 37 degrees Celsius in 22 degrees Celsius ambient |

http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/s...html?ZAL-9500L is the best you can hope for from novatech they don't have much in the way of top notch heat sinks but zalman makes a very good product, it should keep you quite cool.

The PSU you have selected might be questionable. I'm not at all familiar with Novatech so it may be a good unit.
NO computer is "futureproof" ![]() .

DFI boards can be tricky for the first time user, I wouldn't recommend them for you.
Look for an Asus P5Q, or a Gigabyte EP45 series board and you'll do swell. Edit: You definitely need to get a quality power supply, even if it means spending more money. Cheap power supplies can fry your system and take out your motherboard, vid card and all sorts of components. Last edited by jon_e_33; 08-10-2008 at 10:38 PM. |

iv looks at those mobos at novatech, and i think i can save £50 and take more time doing it than spending extra, if i could get a job myself i would allow the luxury of a better mobo, but since im not after mobo performance i don't need one that costs alot, iv switched to a 30 motherboard and using linux or windows x64 (xp thats 64 bit) when i get the money
