New Build
I have never built a computer and to be truthful, don't know that much about them. Anywho, I would really enjoy building a computer and believe i have found some homework decent priced componets that will do a good job together.
MOBO: Gigabyte EP35-DS3L Motherboard - Intel P35, Socket 775, ATX CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Processor - 2.53GHz, 3MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB, Wolfdale-3M, Dual-Core, Socket 775, Processor with Fan Memory: Corsair Dual Channel TWINX 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (2 x 2048MB) Video Card: KFA2 GeForce 7300 LE Video Card (since i don't plan on using this as a serious game machine i honestly picked the cheapest one, i just need to be able to connect to a monitor) HDD: Western Digital Cavair GreenPower 500GB Hard Drive - Drive: Lite-On Internal Super AllWrite SATA DVD Writer - \ Case: Centurion 5 ATX Mid-Tower Case - Silver, Front USB, FireWire, Audio, 430-Watt Power Supply PSU: Supplied with case. I want to run Vista 64 bit. I don't do much gaming and really don't run that many demanding programs so perhaps what i have is overkill. I use my computer for music, movies, internet and eventually want to get a tuner card and use it somewhat like a HTPC I do occasionally have to edit photos in Adobe Photoshop and do some work in Adobe Illustrator so i will need some processing power for those programs. Anywho i know you guys read over a bunch of these but i am totally new to this and would love some suggestions, whether they be a good place to cut cost or maybe i need to upgrade a few things. Thanks a lot |

If you just need minimal graphics, you might want to take a look at onboard video.
Look at this mb: Asus P5KPL-CM Make sure the hard drive and dvd burner are both sata. Not sure about the power supply quality that comes with that case. You might want to get a seperate psu just to be safe. What country are you in? Are you buying these from a store, or a website? What is your budget?

I'm in the U.S. and plan on buying online from TigerDirect or maybe Newegg.
My budget is as low as possible. I would like to keep it under $600 Anything more then that i would probably just choose to go ahead and buy a pre-build. My goal is to have some fun building a computer that is more capable then a pre-build that would have cost the same amount. |

I would suggest you stay away from tigerdirect.
Newegg is really good, and recommended. Take a look at this thread for some more ideas: Second build - gift for brother It's a similar budget, but like i said before, if you need basic video, then get a mother board with onboard video, and then you can get a faster processor. |

i was looking for a MOBO with on board graphics but i really like this Gigabyte MOBO. I've heard the P35 chipset is a good one and it seems to have good upgrade potential.
Suggestions on a MOBO similar to this one (including price) with on board graphics would be great. Thanks a lot |

Thanks, that board would work great i think. Any other suggestions? I'm still obviously in the planning stage and any suggestions are more than welcome.
