computer shut down after 45 seconds

So I have successfully put together my first build.. well sort of. All the pieces are in and it turns on. When I first saw this I was relieved and I foolishly entered the BIOS to start setup. After maybe 45 seconds my unit shut down. Now every time I start my computer after 45 seconds of messing around it shuts down on me. The only idea I've had was to re-check wiring and make sure everything is in correctly. Any suggestions would be appreciated, below is what I'm working with.

It sounds like it might be overheating. I would suspect that the heatsink isn't completely on.

Read this, and I would try that again: http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles...15&cid=19&pg=6

In order to completely install the heatsink, you have to remove the motherboard, so i would also take the oppertunity to try this: PROBLEMS with a NEW BUILD? Try This!!

thanks i think you're right. When I took my motherboard out i saw some of the locks werent in place correctly. But now I have another problem. When installing the cpu sink fan I find I am wrestling with the 'screws'. And by that I mean I can lock one but the when I go to lock the opposite one my first pops out of the motherboard. Now I no I am new to this but it shouldn't be this hard to install the heat sink. should it?

The retail heatsinks are really hard. A lot of people think they're going to break something while installing it.

Make sure after you push it in, you twist the pin.

The link I posted above should help you see what I'm saying about twisting the pins.
