Hello pcmech forums !! I'm new here and stumbled across here last night. I have a few questions and was wondering if you guys could help me out.
Let me start by showing you my current oldy build p4 3.0ghz intel gbfl series mobo agp 80gig maxtor 7200 rpm ati hd 2600xt 512mb agp 2g pc3200 iso 450psu I'm on a tight budget with school and all and recently i set up a gaming rig that will cost me around $660 canadian with taxes already calculated, it will result in New ram + mobo + gpu + cpu + psu, i will be using my current harddrive and case for the time being. Here it is: using the best canadian website i could find near me -Asus® P5N-E SLI, Socket 775, NVIDIA® nForce™ 650i SLI™ Chipset w/ PCI Express x16 $119 http://www.pccanada.com/viewitem.asp?id=5650 -OCZ 2Gb PC6400 DDR2 800mhz EL Dual Channel Gold Gamer eXtreme XTC Rev 2 Edition $54.99 http://www.pccanada.com/viewitem.asp?id=4616 -OCZ GameXStream 600W SLI ATX 12V Ver 2.2 Power Supply $94.99 http://www.pccanada.com/viewitem.asp?id=4513 -Intel® Core™2 Duo E7200, 2.53-GHz @ 1066Mhz w/ 3Mb Cache (Socket 775) $129.99 -PNY XLR8 GeForce 9800 GTX Video Card - 512MB DDR3, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV $179.99 http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...815&CatId=3670 So my question is should i see huge gaming improvements with this setup quality and fps wise compared to my old rig? and will it run well with windows xp 32bit as in recognizing all the components and being compatible? Im sorry if these questions seem a little tedious but i am just getting into how pc's work. Ps ...In the future i plan to get a better mobo and hd, then go sli, so let's just worry about the meantime Thanks ahead of time, i will be awaiting some feedback

I've heard of a lot of people having problems with the nvidia 650i chipset. If I were you then I would like for an Intel chipset. Everything else looks pretty solid. You will definitely notice an improvement in performance. Can't tell you exactly how much but just upgrading the cpu alone will give you an amazing performance boost.

Might want to look at a Asus P5Q motherboard instead.
Not sure if the same rebates apply in canada, but I know that Corsair 2x1gb ddr2-800 ram has had a good rebate going. Also check out a-data. That could help save some money. And this should definately give you improvements in gaming, and just about everything else.
