Question about installing CPU fan
I recently built my first computer and I reused an old Zalman 7000 (copper based) with an adapter for a intel 775 socket.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how tight I should screw in the screws. After installing the thermal paste, I fastened the 2 screws on my CPU fan until I could just feel the screws fighting back, then maybe one more turn. Did I tighten it a little too much? Also, I used Speedfan to measure my temperatures and it came out like this (after idling more about 1 hour) ![]() I used an Intel E8400 3.0Ghz Wolfdale processor with the Asus P5Q Pro Mob. (I think that Core with a fire icon is my Video Card's temp.) Are my temperatures in the safe range? Because I am worried that my temperatures may be too high. Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope all of you will have a wonderful weekend. |

Welcome to PCMech!
I have no experience with that particular cooler, but your reading shows 37C for the cpu. That's probably fine for an air cooled processor. Under load, they can reach upwards of 60-65C with no ill effects. Do you know what your load temps have reached? Also, if your cpu starts to become overheated, it will likely throttle down or even shut down.
