Upgrade Parts, Build Would Not Boot! HELP!

Bought new parts to upgrade my old build.

New Parts:

Intel 8400 Core 2 Duo
Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R
Crucial Ballistix 2 GB PC2-8500 1066 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

Old Parts:

Antec 900 Case
74 GB Raptor 10K RPM and 750 GB Hard Drives, Both SATA
600 Watt PSU
Audigy 2 ZS

Connected everything, but upon pushing the power button, lights and fans would turn on for just a second then would shut off. Any suggestions of help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Did you..............

perform this assembly out of the case first?
What do you mean by "600 WATT PSU"?
Be more specific on that.

Yes installed the standoffs, and 600 Watt PSU (Power Supply Unit) I forgot what brand. And no I didn't install out of the case, I'll install out of the case when I get home from work and see it that works, then connect one hardware at a time to see what's making it not boot. But yeah, all it does is turn on and shut off after like a second.

The motherboard I have has a 2x4 12V but I only have a 2x2 Connector, I've read in the manual that it's possible to just connect the 2x2 and it should work or should I just go out and buy a 2x4 cable?

If the PC is shutting off after a few seconds, sounds like the CPU heatsink isn't fully locked down to the motherboard. If just one of the locking pin is loose, the CPU can shut down due to overheating.
The other possiblity is if the PSU is a no-name brand. Using the 2x2 should be OK.
