Help with Gaming Computer build

Over the years its became painfully obvious that my 2004 compaq isn't going to cut it anymore with gaming, though the video card I added made it last for one more year. Honsitly it wasnt a 'bad' computer but I think its days are comeing to and end....

So after the summer ended I finally money the money I needed to build a new computer, as you can imagine this is my first time building one so I'm bound to be overlooking a few things. I am not loaded with cash, I only made $6.60 and I saved up a total of $670.00. Not a lot I know -.-'. The way i decided to cut the price is to use my old HDD, and not get a monitor. Instead of a monitor I am going to to use my 32 inch LCD HDTV. Don't know if it will work, if not I'll have to find the money for a monitor.

Anyway I've talked long nuff, heres the setup:

Case: APEVIA X-TELSTAR-JR G-Type X-TSJGT-BL Blue SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case:

MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard:

PSU: RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Cabling Modular LED Power Supply:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817152036

Video: ASUS EAH4850/HTDI/512M Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121253

I don't have a lot of cash so I cant upgrade it a lot but I thought if this all work it would be decent nuff. Suggestions, Flames, and discussions below. Thanks.

Honestly, if you're that strapped for cash, you might want to consider holding off on this and saving for more important things over gaming. The hardware is only going to depreciate in value.

If you are looking for a gaming pc, then you need to stop looking at AMD. Check out this board and proc:

ASUS P5K SE
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131278

Intel E7200
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115052

Cost is pretty much the same as your's, but you will get a heck of a lot more performance. Most people are overclocking that proc up to 3.6 - 3.8 no prob. Besides, clock for clock, a core2duo is a lot faster than an amd x2. I have an AMD X2, and compared to a core2 at the same speed, the core2 wins every time.

Don't forget you need to buy an OS too...I agree if your that strapped you probably want to hold off...I also second the core2duo if your a gamer. Also depending on how old or what type that harddrive is you might want to replace it...harddrives are fairly cheap and your going to want SATA.

I don't need to hold off for the computer, I decided if I get it while I'm young I'll have the money for more important things when I'm older. If i don't get it know, I might never get it. I Have the OS disk already, Windows XP Pro.

Yes, I'm pressed for cash, but that's because I'm not that old, I'm just thinking ahead, soon I'll be paying for with gas, car insurance and payments, so there's no way I'll be able to get it.i didn't just make $670 all summer, I made around $1600 Its just not all for a computer. If your wondering, I do already have a car, or I would be buying that instead. But thanks for your concern.

I'll think about getting the intel E7200 but I don't fancy that motherboard so I would probably go with something different Mobo wise. I do like the core2duo processor so I might get it instead.

My HDD isn't that old, I recently had to replace it because of an energy serge, buy I might still get a new one, but that means I might go over my budget a bit, as long as its not a lot though.

Thanks

I'd go with the Intel setup myself.

But more importantly, please go with a higher quality power supply. Raidmax units are not a good choice. This Corsair would be great : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...corsair%20550w
