Does monitor matter?

After figuring out what I needed and getting a build aproval from you guys I ordered my parts. In record time, 20 hours from buy to delivery, I got my parts. I installed them and had the same problem as this Momentary Power .

Anyway I got through that and everything seems to be running however I get nothing on my screen. I'm running a Q6600 on a P5Q Pro MB. My video card is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121082 and I have it connected to a 10 Year old Trinitron I got from DELL. I know it works, I'm using it right now for this post. Any advice? I have it hooked up to the left DVI port through an adapter that came with the video card. There is also an S-video cable output. Can I simply hook it to a TV ans see what happens.

I guess a more appropriate question is how long shoud it be before I expect to see or hear anything. The MB user guide says 30 seconds. I'm assuming I have a little speaker on the MB. I pressed the DELETE key to get it into bios but nothing. I did power up and power down a few times thinking in trying to fix the original problem.

Sorry for the simple and maybe stupid questions. It's late after an early morning and late work day. I'm probably not at the top of my mental game. Hopefully someone has an easy answer for me in the morning.

I got it working. I used the link shadowpr provided. I saw it last night but wasn't going to yank everything out then. I don't know what it was but when I powered it up on the cardboard it started right up. Put everything back in just the way it was and it now works. A feeling of relief!
