I've seen you have a few posts about multiple monitors. I don't remember how many you're going with, or how big they are, but here is a good setup, especial for a single monitor, or dual monitors.

MB: Asus P5Q
CPU: E8500
Ram: Corsair 2x2gb ddr2-800
HD: Seagate 7200.11 500gb sata
DVD Burner: Lite-on dvd burner, sata, retail
PSU: Corsair 750
Video: 4870 x2
Case: your preferance.
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 64

Intel are currently the top dog for processors, NVIDIA recently bought out PhysiX cards, and people are using their old graphics cards as PhysiX. If you wanted to do that you could get something like an 8800GT for the PhysiX and then an 9800GTX+ or something for your main card. That allows you to have 3 monitors as well as meaning you don't have to buy 2 really expensive graphics cards.

You really need to figure out how amny monitors you want. Without knowing that, and if you want to do sli/crossfire (which really isn't recommended), then we can't really give you good specs.

More then 2 monitors will require more then one video card, and thus require a mb, and power supply that can handle more then one.

Sli/crossfire, will also require more then one video card and a stronger power supply, but can only be used for one (maybe two. I'm not sure) monitors.

To run Sli, you need 2 Nvidia video cards that have the same GPU. Generally we say if doing Sli, get the top of the line video cards and get a PSU that is Sli-certified for the type of cards your using. To take full use of a Sli system with todays hi-end Nvidia cards, should use at least a 24" monitor otherwise your under utilizing the extra resolution of Sli on a smaller monitor.

The top of the line nvidia cards would be the 280. Get two of those, and a corsair 1000 psu.

Or go three 280's, and get a pc power and cooling 1200psu.

Or if you go crossfire, get two 4870 x2. Not sure what power supply or mother board for that though. Someone else might know better.

First, I really think there's no reason to go sli. But if you must, I would get a board that uses ddr2, since there is no real advantage to ddr3 yet. Now that I said my peace, here are my suggestions:

Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231188

That power supply is no good. This is what you need for those two cards: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139007 This one is certified by nvidia to work with those two cards.

I would try the on board audio first to see if you like it.

I highly doubt you would use even 4gb, much less more then that. But, if you want, you can get up to 8gb I believe.

Just be aware, you will need a 64bit os in order to use that much ram.

According on tigerdirect, that you linked to, it has 4 slots for ram. It also says you can have a maximum of 8gb, so that would mean you can have a maximum of 2gb in each slot.

As for which slots to put 2 sticks in, the manual should tell you which two to use.

dual core

I would get a dual core instead. games haven't yet (and won't for a while) used all 4 cores, your other two will probably be idle. but if you must get a quad, atleast get on with a higher ghz, like 2.8+. unless you're going to oc your quad.

this information was provided to me from everyone else on the board, so it's possible it's wrong.

power supply info

I do make the following suggestion of going to this website to check your power supply needs:

http://www.extreme.outervision.com/p...ulatorlite.jsp

But also i do suggest in having a full tower case, because of the length of today's video cards, plus the sizes of the heatsinks!

When you check your power supply needs, make sure you compensate for a full load! I have read reviews of were people have not done this and have paid the price!

As a matter of fact, if you are going to run two GTX280, then I recommend getting as much RAM as possible.
The truth is, a GTX280 has 1GB VRAM, hence it will take 1GB of physical RAM from your system. The video card always takes the exact amt of RAM from your system. SO if you have 4GB, and you have 2 GTX280, then the system will only be able to use 2GB. So 4-6GB should be adequate. A 64-bit OS is needed for that though. btw, the 790i ONLY uses DDR3. But it's a better board plus it's future proof as DDR3 will soon replace DDR2 as the standard. Plus it's great for gaming as it's fully overclockable.

You HAVE to get a full tower case, because the size of the one GTX280 is HUMUNGOUS. You'll need a LOT of room.

With regards to the power supply. I would recommend getting a 1.2-1.6kW PSU (1200-1600Watts). The GTX cards use a lot of power as well as if you're putting a lot of RAM, you'll need power to supply the RAM.

If you go with a Quad core, you'll be future proofing your system and the games will run even smoother than on a dual core because there will be idle cores. If the two cores in use become stressed too much, an additional core can immediately kick in.

You need to fix your links. The forum shortens them, so highlighting and copy/paste does not work.

But assuming the parts are the same as your last post, it all looks fine. Overkill, but fine.
