So close to a successful first build... Then it froze in the BIOS...
So I got everything put together and started it up, it went to the BIOS just fine. I changed the date and time and checked to make sure the settings were right. I was in a sub menu at one point and I didn't know what to press to get back out to the main menu, so I hit F1 for help. The BIOS froze and I had to turn it off using the switch on the PS. When I turn it back on now the monitor is getting no signal. I tried the monitor on a different system and it works. The cooling fans and power lights are all on inside the case, but no display. Any advice?
I'm running on: M3A32-MVP Deluxe Mobo (790FX chipset) Phenom X4 9950 BE processor 2GB 800Mhz RAM in dual channel (2 more GB in the mail) nvidia 9600 GT 500W PS 250GB Seagate HDD Thanks a lot for any help. Also, is it possible (if I was a complete idiot) that I could have changed the setting for display output in the BIOS so it no longer goes through the video card? That's a guess at the problem, but I have no solution. |

With the computer off, disconnect the power cable, and remove the motherboard battery as it says in the motherboard manual. Leave it out for about 5 minutes. Check the manual to see if there are jumpers that will let you reset the cmos.
Then put the battery back in, and plug the power cable in, and try to turn it on.

Thanks for the response. When I turned it back on after following your instructions it still did the same thing. So settings in the BIOS are not the problem. That means it's hardware I guess?

On second thought... I went ahead and tried again just to make sure, and I'm back in the BIOS now. Thanks a lot.

To back out of a menu in the BIOS, use the ESC key.
