Second Opinion on a Build

Hello,

I have this build for a gaming computer based around a 23" HD apple cinema display that I already own. http://www.apple.com/displays/specs.html

This is what I have so far, but I would like some more opinions on it from people with more experience building than I have. Also, if you see anywhere where I am being redundant or could save some money without sacrificing too much performance, please let me know.

I would make a few changes.

MB: Asus p5q
CPU: E7200 or if you can afford to, a e8500
Video: 4870 x2
DVD: Either a lite-on or asus dvd burner

And you won't need the heatsink unless you plan on overclocking.

Well.
The Centurion 5 has a top mount for a PSU. If you use a big CPU cooler and ever need to pull the power supply for any reason, then you've got problems.
I'd look at cases with a bottom mount for the PSU.
And gaming will still run up the CPU temps so a big cooler is a good idea. I wouldn't use the Zerotherm Nirvana though. I have one, and it is an excellent cooler as far as keeping the CPU goes, but it sits low and cantilevers to closely to most NB heatsinks. No room for a fan or a cooling mod if you ever feel the need.
A ZALMAN 9500A would probably do the job for you. Thermalright has some great ones, mainly used for overclocking, but if you went that route, a 120E or an HR01P would keep that chip frigid.
I'd get an E8600.
Two good reasons. It's the latest, fastest C2D and they have managed to get the temperature sensor quirks out of it. Price isn't bad considering what it is.
The only performance gain you would see by using a 4870x2 instead of a 4870 would only be visible in system benchmarking. Since you aren't going to be overclocking, you won't need that much firepower. A 4870 or 2 1GB 3870s in Xfire will provide you with hours of gaming satisfaction.
I'd go with Seagate hard drives. They don't clunk like WDs.
If you're not overclocking or don't have much experience in a BIOS, then you won't need a DFI. You'll swear you'll never build another PC again when you finally get everything dialed in and the system is running.
A P5Q PRO would be a good motherboard choice for you. Good board and the setup is easy to figure out. Pretty straightforward on most of that. It's a lot less expensive too.
That's about all that I can think of right now.
Good choice on the power supply.

BTW. Welcome.

Thank you much for the input. I'm hoping to order the parts in the next couple of weeks and I'll let you guys know how it goes.
