new build xp/ubuntu hardware issues
Hi,
I recently built a new machine, an amd dual quad core. I have xp and kubuntu installed. I have two 500 gb hd's; they are both deteced in bios, but neither xp or kubuntu sees the second one. Also, I have a creative audigy soundblaster card, but am unable to get any audio. I play a cd, try putting headphones in the vadious jacks on the card, playing with system audio levels, but no sound. any ideas? thanks, bp |

Make sure that you have all the drivers installed.

pretty sure I did that, I installed everything from the cd that came with the card. there's a manual with it also, so I'll look through that.

Do you have both os's on the same drive? Or are they on seperate drives?
Windows can't see the linux drive cause it doesn't recognize the format. As fo sound, which os are you trying to use? Have you disabled onboard audio in the bios?

For linux, i usually have to use onboard audio.
Creative is horrible about linux drivers. Try disabling onboard audio first, and see if you get it in windows. Then try the onboard audio in linux. |
