Sound Card- Creative 70SB046A00000 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional Series http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102005 I need opinions on a better card, I heard a few negative reviews on this. Extras- DVD/CD Reader-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135176 DVD/CD Burner-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151171 Basic DVD/CD Burners and Readers. Opinions Welcome ------------- What I still need - Windows XP 64 bit. Network card (Suggestions please.) ------------- I am open to all opinions and suggestions. If you see a problem with my current setup, please let me know. As far as I can tell, all of these parts SHOULD be compatible, but as they say, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. If you know of a part that would be better suited for my setup- Please tell me. My price range for this build is around $3,000.00 but I can manage a bit more if necesary to improve peformance. Bottom line- R theese p4rts gud? Thanks for reading, Swift. |

The parts look fine, not compatibility problems I can see, however I would recommend spending a tiny bit extra on a Corsair Power Supply as they're considered to be the best. As for the network card, you could use the in built one that comes with the motherboard?

I will definatley take that into consideration. To be honest, the WOW factor of that power supply is what attracted me to it.
As far as the nic, I am still pending results as to whether it supports wired AND wireless. I am now considering using the onboard Sound card, as well as a SSD for running the OS, instead of a 74gb SATA 1.5 HDD. (If only W.D. made a SSD raptor...) If anyone knows of a good, solid SSD, please don't be shy top link me ;] My decisions have been influenced by this link - http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...313AANHED7&r=w |

If you like music i'd invest in a separate sound card. They sound a lot better than the inbuilt stuff.

If you want most bang for your buck, then you're definately over spending here.
SLI/Crossfire isn't good bang for your buck. Neither are the raptor drives, or ddr3. I would start with this basic build, and we can add upon it from there if you want. MB: Asus P5Q CPU: Q9450 Ram: Corsair 2x2gb ddr2-800 Video: EVGA 280 HD: Seagate 7200.11 500gb sata DVD: Lite-on DVD burner with lightscribe sata, retail PSU: Corsair 750 Case: You preference As For an OS: I would stay away from xp 64. If you want xp, then stay with the 32 bit version. If you want a 64 bit os, then get vista home premium 64. Better support then xp 64. For a sound card, I would try onboard sound first, or wait for someone else to recommend something. I have a cretive card now, it works, but it will be my last creative card.
