Upgrading Build For Vista
Okay I'm finally making the move to Vista 64 Bit and I was wondering, do which parts do I need to upgrade? Which parts should I upgrade for better performance in Vista 64?
Case: Xion Onyx PSU: OCZ GameXStream 600 W MoBo: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L 1333 FSB DDR2 1066 CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo e6750 GPU: EVGA nVidia GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB Superclocked Edition RAM: OCZ Reaper 4 GB DDR2 800 HD: Seagate Barracuda 500 GB 7200 RPM 32 MB Cache SC: Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE I'm thinking I need a new sound card, and why does the e6750 cost more than the e8400? Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't neet to upgrade anything.
You could get a new video card if you wanted to get something, but it's not necessary.

Cool thanks, just making sure because I've heard people bashing Creative software support on Vista.
Probably going to switch in a few weeks, I'm liking the way I have my XP Tweaked right now.

If you're happy with xp, then why switch?
Creative does support vista 64, but I would check their site for your specific card. I know they support mine, which I bought over a year ago. |

Ok.
To help make things go smoother, make sure you have all the drivers ready before you install vista 64. |

How would I install the drivers before even the OS is installed? :P

Have them ready, not installed. Slight difference.

That's what I meant.
You might want to have them downloaded onto a usb flash drive, or on a dvd just waiting for you to install them. It makes it a bit easier instead of having to look for them after you just finished installing the OS. |

I like Vista 64 too. (I even keep it on aero.....shhh...don't tell anyone).
Creative does have vista 64 drivers for its recent cards. Don't get a new one until you see if it works. While getting various microphones and headsets/speakers to work (consistently) has caused some grief with Vista 64, it's been no worse than XP 32 was. In my limited experience so far, vista seems to do a much better job with USB audio devices than XP did.
