splat OCCT shows +12 v to be providing +3 v!

Hi,

I just built my first PC and everything seems to be running fine. I just installed SiSoft Sandra, GigaByte Easytune 5 Pro, and OCCT. I was planning to explore overclocking the PC when I noticed an anamoly on the +12V line.

In the BIOS, and in Gigabyte EasyTune the +12 V voltage shown is 12.170 v. However, both SiSoft Sanda and OCCT show the +12V line to be providing only +3 v! Under OCCT load, OCCT shows the +12V voltage to rise from +3 v to to between 7-8 v. All three programs show the +3V and +5V voltages to be on spec.

Is this a problem? Can I believe the EasyTune number, or should I believe the OCCT and SiSoft Sandra numbers? Should I RMA the power supply with Thermaltake?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks very much,
Dave

Only trust the BIOS for voltage measurements, software can be very inaccurate. If the 12v were that low, the system would not run.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me so fast, and thanks for the info. I was kind of wondering how the system could boot with only +3 v on the +12V line...

Thanks again...your info was a big help.

Even bios can be inaccurate, though.

If your +12 was really only providing +3, your computer would not be functioning anymore.
