Mistakes?

I'm a novice when it comes to actually building a computer. I was wondering if there was a "common mistakes" thread or something similar anywhere that I could read so I can make sure I don't make those mistakes when building my computer? Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I wasn't sure where to post it.

As far as things to know beforehand, feel free to post questions on the forums and take a look at instructions before diving in.

1. Connect only your boot HDD until you have it formatted and your OS installed. Then connect any extra HDDs.

2. Plan your drive mounting layout only after verifying cable lengths.

If you're installing a USB card reader (eg. CompactFlash, SecureDigital) don't connect it until you've installed the operating system. If the OS sees it during installation, it will be assigned as drive C:, and your boot drive will end up being E: or F:. Not the end of the world, but it can be a pain.
