Question New built won't boot Vista

Got all the stuff for a new computer last night and got it all together and worked out all the kinks with the configuration. Configured Bios and finally threw in the Vista setup disc and I thought it was going to work but it stopped right when there should be a prompt for information pop up. It won't go passed this and won't load the screen. I tried my old XP disc and that works just fine but Vista doesn't. Any ideas???

Ignore the specifics in the signature here is the PC:

ASRock ALiveNF7G-FullHDR3.0
Cooler Master Elite 330
2gb of OCZ Platinum
WD Caviar 640gb hd
AMD 2.8ghz 5400+ socket AM2
Antec Basiq 500w PSU
LG Sata optical drive

That's strange. Try to boot that Vista disk on another computer. You may just have some bad media.

Is this a genuine windows vista disc?

I'm a bit confused as to where it locks up on you. What did happen before it stopped working?

I tried it in a different computer and it works. I'm not entirely sure it is genuine. My friend gave me the disc to install on his computer and it looks fake.

Here's all that happens:

I turn on the computer runs through bios check and beeps. Load the disc. Bar at bottom scrolls across saying "Windows Loading" then switches to a different screen that has a small bar that has "Microsoft Windows" (Its the Vista boot screen) then it loads the mouse which I can move and has the hourglass there and the background but that is it. After a moment the hourglass disappears and it is just the cursor and background with no text box of any kind.

We won't be able to help with illegal copies.

And it does sound like it's the disc. I would get a genuine windows disc and use that.
