Fan controller for molex connected fans?
Can i use a fan controller (for example the KM01 Scythe Kaze Master) for my case fans? Those fans are two 120mm fans that ONLY plug into my power supply meaning the DO NOT plug into my motherboard. Will i be able to get rpm readings from them?
thanks. |

That controller looks like it has a read out on it with displays rpm but you wont be able to see that from the OS or bios.

I understand that i won't be able to see them in bios, i just want to make absolutely sure that i will be able to see the rpm on the fan controller with cables that plug into a PSU (molex right?) not the motherboard cables.

I see what you are saying now. That controller has the the fan connectors on it. So there would be no need to use the molex. Most fans, if not all, have the small connector and not the molex.

You can purchase 3pin to 4pin adapters. Just a couple bucks at Newegg.

Awesome! I was totally unaware of this! now i just have to get my computer working...
would i have to plug the 3 pin ones into my mobo? because it only has 2 spots, and one is taken by the cpu heatsink. |
