Compleat Upgrade

I have a Dell dimension 5100 that I want to completely upgrade. I will just use the old monitor, keyboard, mouse, HDD's and DVD burner. The rest of the parts I would like to replace. Also I still need a video card( I would like to try out nVidia). So heres what I have so far. Will all these parts work together?

Case: COOLER MASTER RC-690

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000

MOBO: ASUS M3A78 (Is this board ok?)

RAM: G.SKILL 2GB DDR2 1066 ( will this ram work with the CPU?)

CPU cooler: ZALMAN CNPS 9500 AM2

PSU: PC Power & Cooling Silencer PPCS500 500W

I definitely want to go with AMD. But any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

What is your budget and what will you be using the machine for?

Well those parts cost about $450 and I don't want to spent more than $150 on a video card so $600. Cheaper is better though( I'm working on an other build too).

What will be the primary purpose of this machine?

Is it for gaming, or just general use and web browsing?

Is it for photo editing?
