ok i've just put together all the hardware, everything seems fine and connected correctly. The problem is when i try start the machine, it comes on for one second then turns off again. I took the screws out, to make sure nothing metal was left around the case. I the put the mobo back on the stand offs and tried to start the comp up, but now it doesn't even turn on for one second as it previously did. Any suggestions to solved this problem would be great?

This is our standard troubleshooting steps: PROBLEMS with a NEW BUILD? Try This!!

Make sure it's out of the case, with just the essentials. No hard drive or dvd drive, and just one stick of ram.

Let us know if you get a post.

Also, make sure all 4 pins of the heatsink are installed properly: http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles...15&cid=19&pg=6

Did you mean the asus p5n-d? Did you connect both the 24 and 4 pin power connectors to the motherboard? Did you connect the power cable to the video card?

Thumbs up

Shadowpr i'd just like to say thanks!

It ended up being a very small mistake, basically i had a q connector with my mobo and i put the reset wire in the power slot and vice-versa. I only noticed it on setting up the comp outside the case, really happy with my first build.

I'm getting vista ultimate for my OS. ( Cousin works in microsoft so it's only costing me €30)
