New Build Problem

I just built a brand new PC, the problem I'm encountering is that when I start up the PC, it turns on and in a split second it turns back off. I'm at a complete loss not knowing what's causing it or how to fix it. I've checked and double checked and made sure everything was connected and in the right place.

My PC specs are:

MoBo - ASUS M3A32-MVP DELUXE
CPU - AMD Phenom 9950
RAM - 4gb Corsair Dominator
GPU - Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX
PSU - ABS BZ800 800W

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The most common causes of this type of action is an insecure heatsink or a cpu fan connected to the wrong fan connector. Your best bet is to remove everything from the case and follow the guide in this thread.

Also, if it works out of the case, then pay attention to the standoffs.

Having problems with a new build? Try this. You must remove the motherboard from the case when doing this.

I've never heard of that power suppy brand before. It could be a cheap low quality one and may be the cause of the problem.

That PSU..........

Claims 64A with 6 12V Rails.
Rails don't combine their amperage.
Do the math and you have app. 10.6A/rail.
Huh.
Who are they trying to kid?
I'd definitely test out another compatible PSU.

Ok, I followed the steps in that thread. The PSU powers on and actually stays on now, the heatsink fan doesn't want to turn on for some reason though. It is plugged in in the correct spot and is seated correctly on the CPU, as such, the CPU is also correctly seated. No display comes on the monitor though.

Thank you all for the help thus far, will be awaiting for any further information.

If it's out of the case, and you still don't get a post, then it's time to start substituting parts.

Like everyone else says, try a different psu first.

The processor's fan needs to be working to keep the CPU from instantly overheating. Double check your connection from the fan to the motherboard. If the CPU fan is deemed faulty... you need to grab another CPU fan that is compatible with that particular processor.

I know it's been a while since I updated, but I've been busy this past week and wasn't able to get a chance to mess around with things until this weekend.

I took apart my running pc and swapped out the MoBo, and the heatsink fan works perfectly on it. So I've concluded that the new MoBo was bad.

As such, I tested out my CPU with my old MoBo which supports the chipset, and it wouldn't post, but my older CPU does post, so I've also concluded that my CPU is also bad.

Everything else works 100%, never had a problem with the PS. I'm currently installing my OS and am going to RMA the 2 bad products in hopes of getting working ones. Thank you all for your help in my dilema, it was appreciated.

Did you try the older CPU on the newer MOBO? Possibly it's just the CPU at fault. I would also suggest looking at another PSU.

Well, seeing as how my heatsinks work on the older MoBo, and are completely unresponsive on the newer MoBo, I wouldn't expect for the older CPU to work on the new MoBo.
