I Want To Build A Laptop

One of my clients asked me if I could build him a custom high performance laptop.
Of course I replied: "I'm not sure because I don't know where I would locate all of the parts."
I figured GLC and PR being the laptop Gurus that they are, and some of you others that are vastly experienced in the notebook realm could give me some directions to the necessary hardware suppliers.
Where do I find a chassis?
That was the first thought.
There's other hardware too. Video cards and such. Power sources? I have no idea where a good source would be to find all of that.
Of course, I am still in research phase.
I have skimmed thru some HOW TO guides this morning and I see no problem with any construction.
I just don't know where to buy the stuff.
Thanx.

I don't know about the high performance part but it is possible to get standard laptop parts now.

Read this first : http://www.maximumpc.com/article/new...d_laptop_parts

and then check out what's on offer : http://www.intel.com/design/mobile/p...ads/309036.htm

Don't overlook the laptop "whitebook" solutions they mention from Asus and OCZ.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

it is possible to get barebones laptops, i cant recall where from and what exactly is included off the top of my head, but that might be something to look into for maximum customisability

Thanx for the info so far everyone.
He wants an AMD platform.
Seems to be difficult to locate much on those.
Could be why another builder told him that he only builds INTEL, I found out.

Asus use to sell some Laptop kits with no CPU/HD/DVD/RAM. Let you choose what to put in it. Some custom laptop sites sell these or assemble them for you.
