Graphics Card and Power Supply Combo
It's been a few months since I've been in this forum...but it's time to build a rig for my brother (graduation gift for making it through college this December). I've got most parts picked out from my current rig which I absolutely love (and built with lots of help from this site).
I've got 2x EVGA nVidia 9600GT 512MB in SLI. I paid about $180 each in May. Now I see I can get the 9800 series on the cheap. I was thinking of 2x 9800GTX in SLI mode since I can do that for cheaper than many of the newest cards and the mobo I like is SLI capable. Here's the problem...I went to www.SLIZone.com and can't find a lot of the power recommendations I used to. Plus, it looks like only the 1000W is the only Corsair model that goes with half of the cards anymore... even though I run two flawlessly off a 750W. Does anybody out there run 2x 9800 cards off a 750 or lower wattage Corsair? Does anybody know of other sites to check power requirements? It is still the recommendation of most folks to run a single awesome card vs. two cheaper ones in SLI? I'll be including a E8500 3.12GHz CPU, EVGA 780SLI mobo (I have one and love it... so sticking with it), and 4GB or RAM (I know the 32bit issue...but RAM is cheap and I want to milk all I can out of it). Thanks.

The minimum is a 550w power supply to run the 9800GTXs in SLI mode.

I would still recommend a better single card. You save money on the motherboard, and power supply, and can use that to get a great single video card.
