Site to help builders select parts. Good Idea?
I've been working recently on an idea I had for a website. It would provide an easy way for people to figure out what parts were compatible. You would select a part you wanted to start out with, probably a processor, then the site would show you which motherboards were compatible, then from there RAM, etc. It also might provide price comparisons of the parts on various websites. Basically just a resource site for people who want to build their own computer. I will avoid making this look like spam by not putting the URL here, but PM me if you want to see the site so far. I'm just curious to know if people would find that useful. Are there other sites that do that? Do you think something like that could make money from commissions? What resources do people use to help them build there own computer?

Seems like a good idea but it would have to be updated quite frequently to keep abreast of the fast changes.

I think the challenge you will have is people who would use the site probably already know how to find out this information and would more likely get it from the "source" (i.e. manufacturer's or retailer's information).
