OCZ mem

Hi Gang

I am still checking out this new system that I put together, that will eventually be my main stuff. DG965WH Intel MOBO, etc. Now I read a little article cant remember where, and did not pay much attention to it. It stated, or this one person said, that Intel MOBO's don't like OCZ mem.

So as I was thinking of building this new system I found several sticks of OCZ DDR2 mem, (I bought this OCZ before I got the Intel MOBO) for a good price and I bought it. Thinking I was really doing a good thing. So in my build naturally I installed this OCZ mem and low and behold, it did not work. Thinking I did some thing else wrong I checked everything, nothing seemed hooked up wrong or any thing, then I thought back about that article. Sure enough I yanked out the OCZ and put in 2 sticks of Kingston and it fired right up and operated correctly.

Now question is, is there any truth to the article, or was it just my imagination.? It sure seemed like he was right by my experiences.

Thanx....Gunny..P.S. I have tried the OCZ mem back in after all was working good and it would not even boot up, and it is the correct mem for this board. I double checked this after the first go round when it did not work.

What cas and voltage is the ocz? That could be a reason that it won't start up.

Is this them Gunny: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...pk=OCZ2G8002GK

If so, the specs look good. Have you tried to run memtest on those sticks?

It might just be they don't like each other. Not sure if all intel mb don't like ocz ram, but it could be that your model mb doesn't.

That sure looks and the #'s seem to match with what I have. No I have not run any mem test on them. The Reference I mention about not liking each other, had to do with my mod MOBO. But it gave me the idea he was saying this about all MOBO's by Intel. I don't have another MOBO I can try this with, just to prove or disprove it. And the fact that I slipped in 2 other sticks of ram and everything went ok, just added more weight to what he said. Maybe this is one of those, if it works don't even think of asking why. :-)

I was just wondering if any one else has run across this.

Thanx....Gunny

I've had problems running OCZ ram (similar type to the one you have except platinum revision, same voltage and CAS) on an Asus P5K-SE; an Intel based board. I used those exact same ram sticks with an AMD build and it worked perfectly even increasing the speed of the processors (in the vista benchmark). I think some of the Intel chipsets have trouble with OCZ ram, but what experience I have, may have just been a coincidence.
