I am stuck
Ive put together a new build and it comes to £412 over here.
However on Newegg.com it comes to £363(once converted) Specs: Core 2 DUO E7300 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/150186 2GB PC2-6400 RAM http://crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspe...8789CEA5CA7304 SEAGATE 250GB SATA 8MB CACHE http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131300 LG DVD DRIVE http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145869 PSU http://www.ebuyer.com/product/124922 ASUS P5QL PRO http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?W...TA+RAID%2c+ATX PALITVISION 9600GT http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?W...VI-I%2fS-Video Now. Is it possible to make a gaming system with similar spec thats under £400 (IN UK) or under £300(once converted from USA) ???? Thanks. |

Pretty good list. Drop the 'Arctic Power' power supply though. I've never heard of it. You should be able to find something from our Good list: What Power Supply should I get? How many Watts? Who made it? Guide Inside for a resonable price. Antec Basiq units are good for the low price.

Forgot to ask... do you already have a case to house all of your components? How about I/O devices, display, and etc?

Here is a build list with performance close to that of the PC in your first list, but less expensive, however if you are going to use a monitor with a larger screen size than 19inch, you'll want to get a 9600GT or 8800GT with 512MB:
Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 2.66GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £77.99 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=CP-259-IN Asus P5QL Pro Intel P43 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £61.99 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MB-293-AS PNY GeForce 8800 GT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £44.99 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=GX-011-PN Antec Basic 500W PSU £37.99 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=CA-089-AN (HD252HJ) Samsung SpinPoint F1 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD252HJ) £28.99 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=HD-060-SA Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB) £18.99 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MY-092-CS LG GH20NS15 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM £12.99 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=CD-083-LG Sub Total : £283.93 Shipping : £8.95 VAT : £51.25 Total : £344.13

That doesn't seem bad.
I do want a new case though and I have a perfectly good monitor with speakers built-in that came with my pc. How do Overclockers come out cheapest when they are more expensive for everything? Last edited by tomtoon; 11-02-2008 at 04:47 AM. |
