High Pitched Screaching Noise?
Last night i worked on building my first computer and when i went to boot it up i heard a high pitched screaching noise
i know that my graphics card is not connected to my power supply because i have not bought an adapter for it i was wondering if that could be the reason for the noise if not what could be the cause? basically im wondering if the noise will go away when i plug the video card in Last edited by lordboomshankar; 11-08-2008 at 07:07 PM. |

Try this: PROBLEMS with a NEW BUILD? Try This!!
I wouldn't try and boot without a video card. Just wait till you get what you need, then try. Also, a screach could be a bad fan. You would have to actually turn the computer on with the case open and figure out where it was coming from. But do the out of case build first to make sure your main compnents are good.

i got the graphics card connected and that took care of the screaching noise but still not display
![]() i tried running it with only the mobo 1 stick of ram and graphics card but still no display...ive heard about dell products not being compatible is it possible that the ram i got from the dimension e310 would be the source of the problems? |

Double check and make SURE the CPU heatsink/fan is installed as it should be. A lot of times that is the cause of your issue.
Are all of the power connectors necessary connected to the motherboard from the PSU? What is the make and model of your PSU? |

i reinstalled my cpu heatsink and i still dont get a display
my PSU is a RX-450k (KY550ATX) and when i run the comp using just a stick of ram the cpu and graphics card the heatsink runs and the fan on my graphics card runs as well...idk if that means anything |

Have you tried a new PSU?
The PSU you have there (Raidmax) is usually not a recommended one. |
