Few questions before powering on...
Hey guys and gals, I got all my parts today and began my build. Everything seems to be installed correctly, but I have some issue as to what needs to be plugged into the PSU. First some specs-
Videocard: BFG 9400 GT PCI-Express 16x Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-M61PME-S2 AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 / nForce 430 Micro ATX AMD PSU: COOLER MASTER eXtreme RP-500-PCAR 500W ATX12V V2.01 Mmkay, my first question. I put the video card into the slot, but I don't see a place to hook a power cable in. The only open slot I see is a small 2 pin male plug, which I assume is for an optional fan. Do new cards not require a power source and feed off the board? And second, I was confused about what to hook up to the main power connector. Do I hook up the 4 pin ATX12v and the larger connector for the ATX? Or just the ATX12v? I imagine both, but when I hook up the ATX supply it has 4 pins left, not sure if this is normal. The mobo manual is worded strange and I wanted to confirm with you guys before I power up. And lastly, just to be sure, all I need to hook up from my CD/DVD drive is the power cable and the IDE to the board. There is a slot on the board labeled CD_in, but I don't know what cable (if it's needed) to hook from there to the drive. As always, thank you so much for your help! |

I believe I figured it out guys. After a little more research, I got everything hooked up and I have a successful boot pending any unforeseen consequences. *does a little dance*.
Thanks for your forums and guides! |
