Question Acer Predator or Build my own pc?

I want to buy a new system and I am a pretty demanding user. The things I really want:

- A very nice and mean case
- Dual VGA
- Really fast system

I found a great system from Acer. The Acer Predator (click for all the specs and gallery) but the price of this system is pretty high.

If i should buy a Predator, witch type do you recommend? Sniper, Trooper, Crusher or Eliminator?

Do you think it's better to build my own Computer? Or to buy this mean high-end Acer Predator?

--> The system will be used for gaming but also for all other media...

The more expensive the system, the more you can save by building it yourself. And Acers come with tons or pre-loaded crap software. So build it yourself.

Depends on what you want.

Price difference isn't much these days.

The advantage to building your own is customization.

Sounds good and all, put it doesn't tell you which manufactures they use for parts.

Well, to give you a savings idea... the system I recently built

Asus P5Q motherboard
Intel Q9550 Processor
4GB RAM (Corsair)
4x Seagate 500GB drives in RAID 5
LG Blu-Ray writer
ATI All in Wonder High Definition 256MB video card
Antec 300 case
Corsair 650w power supply

Total price at Newegg comes in at about $1550.00 (I nailed it down a couple of hundred cheaper for corporate discounts). This thing screams along quite nicely for a lot less than one of those things.

Check out my first build in my signature line. You'll notice that it has the same processor and 2x 9600GT... and it cost me about the same price as the ACER you list.

The case is pretty neat... but checking out cases at Newegg.com can net you things that are just as cool. Ultimately... you can customise your own rig and ensure that you get top quality parts. Add in rebates, OEM and other options means you can get just as much at a better price... or bring a machine to the next level at the same price.

Finally... you learn so much in the process of this that you'll be much more knowledgeable when it comes time to upgrade. It's a much more fun and rewarding process.

Its up to you, you can build your own an call it your but you must and willing to have fun building it. Its a time taking but the result come out the way you want it.

Or in my case I don't have the time because of job and spending time with my family so I decide to own a Predator.

Bottom line is up to you.

those are cool looking cases... they use msi boards in them by the way, if you look a little further on the web site they tell you the brand but not the part number. that case is over the top

if you have the time, building your own is fun, at least it is for me. I usually do 3 to 4 per month and I love it, although I have been working with someone that is driving me to drink lately.

The price is not really out of line but you might save a couple hundred doing yourself. Send the link and I will or someone here will put the time in to spec on newegg.
