First-ever Build - can you help with a few questions?

Would love your opinions/suggestions on my very first build.

My goal is to build something powerful and QUIET that will multitask with ease.
I have 22” LCD monitor, wireless keyboard/mouse, Klipsch promedia ultra 5.1 digital speakers

General use: Photoshop, ripping and burning tunes, surfing, Roxio Easy Media Creator 10, gaming (e.g. Far Cry 2)
NO overclocking

Processor: Intel Core2 Quad Q9400

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115131

Motherboard: ASUS P5Q Deluxe LGA 775 Intel P45 Intel Motherboard - Retail
Does this mobo come with equalizer software, or should I add a Soundblaster card?

Memory: Corsair 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Is this the right kind for this mobo? (I know the 32-bit Vista will only recognize slightly more than 3MB of RAM, but it’s so cheap, it doesn’t seem worth it to drop down to 3 MB)

Case: Antec Sonata III 500 Black
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129024

HDD: Western Digital 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
Will I need to buy a separate power cable since this is OEM?

DVD: (two) HP 20X DVD±R DVD Burner SATA
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827140031

Video: PNY GeForce 9800 GTX+
There are so many versions of the 9800. What do you think of this GTX+? I know some like the ATI 4850, but it runs hotter.

Card Reader: Nippon Labs ICR-EE All-in-one USB + FDD1.44" Card Reader w/ 3.5" floppy

OS: Vista Home Premium SP1 32-bit - OEM
I'm one of those few happy Vista users out there.

This is pricing in at $1145. My budget is flexible, but I don't want to spend too much more.
I really appreciate your advice. -Rich

You should change the OS to the 64-bit as then it recognizes all 4GB.
Just to be on the safe side buy a 600w power supply.
You can always take the case one out and put the 600w in.

Heres what I reccommend:

This OCZ one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341010

OR

This Thermaltake One: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817153077

it also gives you room for upgrade if need be in the future.

Personally I would consider a different brand for the DVDRW's. Lite-On or LG would be better and cheaper.
I would think the 500W Antec PSU supplied with the Sonata case should be fine.

Nice build.

I would change the dvd burners to either asus or lite-on.

Unless you are overclocking, 500W will be enough and Antec makes some pretty good power supplies. I found 32-bit vista to work more reliably than 64-bit, unless you need to use a lot of ram, 32-bit is fine.

I've had no problems with stability with vista 64bit.
