help!! new pc will not boot OS installer
Hi, i followed everything.. but i got stock to a point where the pc is not recognizing the OS bootable cd.. it boots up BIOS and gives the POST message and all.. but when the part where it should say "press any key to boot cd", i only get a black screen with a blinking underscore thing.. its a new vista cd.. and its working and booting on my laptop.. but its not doing anything on my new pc.. i configured the boot sequence already.. i even isolated the problem.. i used another DVD rom just to check and still its not working.. not a problem on the cd, the DVDrom and the boot sequence.. all led lights are working.. what do you think i missed?? could it be from the pc requirements or compatibility? i hope you could answer me back.. i badly need this pc done.. and thanks for the tutorial btw.. it sure did help me a lot..

He's asking if you can hear the dvd spinning. It should make a sound.
Is the dvd drive visible in bios? Is it set to boot from dvd in bios? Is it a sata drive? Have you tried a different port or a different cable?

yeah its spinning.. its actually working.. dvd is fine.. i tried using it with my other pc... i did isolate the problem.. and yeah i checked BIOS and its detecting the DVDROM, its in first priority in boot sequence and i tried changing the cable form SATA 2 - SATA 4, still didnt work.. it may either be the cable or the motherboard?

Is the hard drive being detected in the BIOS?
Try leaving only one stick of memory installed as well. |
