Video Editing Rig (again)
Hey guys, not too long ago I started working on a video editing rig (http://www.pcmech.com/forum/showthre...16#post1383716) but because of unrelated difficulties the thing didn't get past the drawing board. Now I think it's time to get things rolling again and quick. This is what I'm looking at right now.

Two things that jump out at me:
1) Samsung drives have high failure rates. I'd reccommend Seagate. 5 year warranty on those. 2) Creative sound card. There have been serious driver issues that have rendered newer creative cards relatively unusable, especially with Vista. Since this is a fairly recent conclusion to stop recommending Creative cards, some here are just starting to try other brands.

Patriot Extreme Performance 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model PDC24G6400LLK that would mean I'd have to change the motherboard to support ddr2: ASUS P5Q Deluxe LGA 775 Intel P45 Intel Motherboard What do you guys think, DDR2 or DDR3? |

Those Asus sound cards are worthless. I love Asus motherboards but those sound cards are no better than what you have onboard. Also your motherboard has Digital SPDIF out, you don't need to waste your money on a sound card. I agree, I think you are better going with DDR2, DDR3 currently is a waste of money in my opinion!

I agree.
P5Q and ddr2-800 would be a better option that what you currently have listed and would save you money.
