Video Editing Rig (again)

Hey guys, not too long ago I started working on a video editing rig (http://www.pcmech.com/forum/showthre...16#post1383716) but because of unrelated difficulties the thing didn't get past the drawing board. Now I think it's time to get things rolling again and quick. This is what I'm looking at right now.

Mobo:
ASUS P5E3 PREMIUM/WIFI-AP @n LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard

CPU:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 3.0GHz LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80569Q9650

Ram:
OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ3P20004GK

Video Card:
HIS Hightech H487F512P Radeon HD 4870 512MB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card

Harddrive:
x1 Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31000340AS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
x3 Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

Audio:
ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 Channels PCI Express Interface Sound Card

Power:
CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Case:
Antec P182 Gun Metal Black 0.8mm cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Optical:
LG Black 6X Blu-ray Disc Burner & HD DVD-ROM Drive SATA Model GGW-H20LK

I think I'm over shooting it again ($2,420!!).

Two things that jump out at me:

1) Samsung drives have high failure rates. I'd reccommend Seagate. 5 year warranty on those.
2) Creative sound card. There have been serious driver issues that have rendered newer creative cards relatively unusable, especially with Vista. Since this is a fairly recent conclusion to stop recommending Creative cards, some here are just starting to try other brands.

Thanks Force Flow, I've made the changes. However I am beginning to wonder if going ddr3 isn't over doing it. Maybe I should go stick with DDR2 something like:

Patriot Extreme Performance 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model PDC24G6400LLK

that would mean I'd have to change the motherboard to support ddr2:
ASUS P5Q Deluxe LGA 775 Intel P45 Intel Motherboard

What do you guys think, DDR2 or DDR3?

Those Asus sound cards are worthless. I love Asus motherboards but those sound cards are no better than what you have onboard. Also your motherboard has Digital SPDIF out, you don't need to waste your money on a sound card. I agree, I think you are better going with DDR2, DDR3 currently is a waste of money in my opinion!

I agree.

P5Q and ddr2-800 would be a better option that what you currently have listed and would save you money.
